From Team Design - this one is literally making us dizzy looking through the site. Spell (by Spline) enables you to create entire 3D worlds or scenes in a few minutes from a single image. What these tools can already do is mind blowing.
The Australian Open is broadcasting all their matches, nearly live on YouTube — but with animated avatars in place of the players!! The matches are delayed by two minutes ('cos the system needs some rendering time) and viewers get to hear the the audio & commentary from the actual match. I’m not sure what instigated the decision to do this but the resulting matches are pretty entertaining, Here’s a blooper reel - mostly as a result of the tennis players letting out their frustrations and the system being incapable of replicating broken rackets...
