Get ready. Introducing Alphero Intelligence
The future of digital will be unlike anything before. Intent-first, ambient, adaptive, moderately terrifying. And Alphero Intelligence is how we prepare. It’s not just a lab. It’s our launchpad.
Curiosity in action! An IRL R&D showcase of what the Alphero crew are sharing, exploring, prototyping, and learning. It's AI and beyond.

Looking beyond large language models. It’s easy to forget about the other AI tools available to us. YOLO, is an open-source machine learning framework that is targeted at object detection.
Not easily wooed by the promise of membership perks? See how we've packaged the client onboarding experience into a cheerful and curious communication device that speaks volumes with just a few words.
Our principal architect shares his thoughts on AI, experience, and solving the problems that matter
Exploring how design can better support busy, brilliant and neurodiverse minds. What does accessibility look, feel and sound like for people with ADHD?
Resistance to change is natural. We have evolved to understand that change equals uncertainty, and uncertainty can lead to danger.

Reimagining user personas for the age of intelligent tools.
When you stumble across a set of striking images. The faces are unmistakable. But something about these images feels weird.
Picture this: AI agents not just fetching your coffee - but debating Winston's politics at your whānau's Christmas dinner table.
When he’s not leading the charge on complex builds, this mobile tech lead is busy solving plumbing debacles with DIY franken-gadgets fashioned from cat food boxes and Halloween props.
How to quantify the productivity impact of using gen AI tools for digital delivery?
There is not a lot of technical information available on using DeepSeek r1 on Perplexity. But on the surface of things, this looks like a slightly better way to access the DeepSeek r1 model (if you can't run it locally yourself). As the DeepSeek model is run on US and EU servers without sending data off to China.
It is still an orange status, as they still share certain information with US companies and partners.
With all the noise around AI, it's great to see practical real-world examples of how AI can help humanity with some of its really complex problems.
My happy place has always been on the bleeding edge and the leading edge.
Drunken animals, bottles, a gun, an actress... look closely enough and you might spot something unexpected in the drip-laden layers of Pollock's masterpieces.
Pure creative genius or coincidence? Take a look for yourself.
As you can imagine, our artificial intelligence channel has been running red hot discussing DeepSeek. Brendon the Security Oracle has graded it a Red in our AI tool traffic light framework.
We're in the midst of future visioning right now for Alphero 2030. We know there's gonna be some AI in there. Here's our set of principles around use of AI that we share with team and clients.
Nintendo’s next console is coming, and while the name’s familiar, the features promise something far more surprising. Here’s what we know (and what we’re hoping for) so far.
From Team Design - this one is literally making us dizzy looking through the site. Spell (by Spline) enables you to create entire 3D worlds or scenes in a few minutes from a single image. What these tools can already do is mind blowing.
The Australian Open is broadcasting all their matches, nearly live on YouTube — but with animated avatars in place of the players!! The matches are delayed by two minutes ('cos the system needs some rendering time) and viewers get to hear the the audio & commentary from the actual match. I’m not sure what instigated the decision to do this but the resulting matches are pretty entertaining, Here’s a blooper reel - mostly as a result of the tennis players letting out their frustrations and the system being incapable of replicating broken rackets...
It's hard to keep up with the tsunami of new tech stuff hitting us these days. Mark (our Strategy Director) shares three of his faves for more useful hardware evolutions available now - extendable screens, mega TVs and E Ink. Rainbow peacock laptops aren't here yet (thanks ChatGPT for the inspo). But we're here for it.
Hey, I found this demo of Github Copilot Workspace super useful. It provides a good overview on how Copilot will get stronger over time and help solve development/code problems for complex products. Watch the demo on X.
This is epic. Beyond NotebookLM, Google is now doing personalised daily podcast summaries based on your search history 😱. Check it out here: AI Podcast concept.
BleepingComputer (that's literally a thing) just published a pretty good summary of some of the biggest security issues and cyber attacks of 2024. Check it out!
So if you've upgraded to Mac OS Sequoia 15.2, you can get Apple Intelligence but need to opt-in via System Settings:
It will take about 15 minutes to download the necessary tools for AI features like Image Playground, Writing Tools, and Photo Editing.
You're welcome!
Our Support Manager, Chris has found a great way to use LLMs
Heads up! NotebookLM now has a mode where you can interact with the IA, basically, you can "join" the "podcast-like audio" and make questions and observations and they will reply to your "interruption". This is cool.
In my opinion, this is a good independent summary of the AI and LLM landscape changes and improvements made in 2024. Read the summary on Simon Willison's Weblog
Our Development Director, Kieron predicts a surge of innovation that could change how we think about payments, identity, and security across digital wallets. Possibly without rainbow laser beams!
Alphero Intelligence has given us a space to experiment with new technologies and try things without impacting delivery timelines.
We used NotebookLM to turn years of support docs into a searchable knowledge base
How to automate infrastructure as code on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure
With the introduction of iOS 18 we gain some nice improvements to integrate your mobile app with the Apple Intelligence features coming in 2024 and 2025.
React has become the de-facto standard for web development, and it's too easy to assume the framework has everything correct, one size fits all
Brendon rounds up 2024's WWDC
We have a really great team who fundamentally care about making a difference. We invest in people and innovation, constantly challenging ourselves to do the best we can.
Kotlin provides a language mechanism called expected/actual to access platform-specific APIs while developing common logic.

Our WWDC correspondents, developer Brendon and designer Georgia share their views on the most interesting updates from Apple for 2023.
Like everyone else, we’ve been doing a lot of deep diving into ChatGPT of late. But it’s not the only interesting AI/ML platform-as-a-service tool out there right now.
We took Apple’s Sound Recognition AI and explored it through a health lens, asking what challenges it could solve
Your team blew us away with the quantity and quality of the ideas in a short time. This initiative is a great addition to our "toolbox" and can't wait to run another one.
What we're developing is better than best practice. This is what best practice will be.
Our team used a white-label smart plug to investigate how to integrate with these devices and consume the data.
We came up with the novel approach to use Apple’s Memoji feature to create virtual versions of interviewees as part of a client strategy engagement.
The more smarts our team have in their kit bags, the better the digital services we can produce for the world.
iOS 14 has new features that will give users some more personalisation options and better uniformity between iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
We designed and built a prototype Google Glass app to showcase its potential
Our team prototyped different things you can do with mobile notifications, so we can showcase these to our clients.
Due to the restrictive nature of in-car apps you can stand one up pretty fast
How could we reimagine customer onboarding and how could we reimagine complex online forms.
